While small portions are nice, sometimes you just feel like stuffing your gob with some sort of culinary monstrosity, amiriiitee?

Anyway, based on everyone’s comments on my ‘Giant Australian Food’ TikTok, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of Australia’s biggest food challenges annnd where you can find some of Australia’s biggest food!

I’ve split this into restaurant chains you can find Australia-wide, and then went deeper into every state. Doin’ the lord’s work here! You’re soooo welcome.

If there’s a Hurricane’s Grill in your area and you’re hankering for some ribs, they have a pretty gnarly rib-eating challenge: 1.5kg beef ribs, 250g chips, and 250g onion rings in under 1.5 hours. Say less!!!

Steak Challenge | Outback Jack’s

Been a while since you’ve gotten the meat sweats? Outback Jack’s usually has a 1kg steak challenge that you need to accomplish in under 30 minutes and I can already hear your stomach growling in agony! SHEER AGONY!

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

Um, these guys are pretty self-explanatory. It's fried chicken the size of your head. They have various locations across Australia, so load up your pal Google Maps for this one.

Giant Frozen Margs | El Camino Cantina

Nothing says ‘Friday’ (or Monday…or Tuesday…or Wednesday…) like giant frozen margaritas at El Camino Cantina.

Who needs vitamins and minerals when you can down one of these bad boys??

Pizza Burger Challenge | Sneakies Kitchen

Let me introduce you to Sneakies Kitchen, whose Pizza Burger Challenge gives you a measly FIFTEEN MINUTES to finish the following items:

  • 4 cheeseburgers

  • 2 large fried chicken breasts

  • A bunch of veggies all smashed between two cheese pizzas

The folks at The Royal Inn dish out a loaded BBQ platter with 3 racks of BBQ pork ribs, over 1kg of fries, and a huge pile of coleslaw PLUS a salad.

The catch? You have to finish it in 30 minutes to score the meal for free, plus a t-shirt, a bucket of beer, and a spot up on the Royal Inn Hotel's Wall of Fame.

1.9kg Tomahawk Steak | Oaks Hotel Bar & Grill

Neutral Bay, NSW

Have you ever eaten an almost 2kg Tomahawk steak? Me neither, but I bet I would be a better person if I did. Anyway, the peeps at Oaks Hotel in Sydney seem to think it’s a good idea, so…get to it!

2.5kg Pho Challenge | Huong Xua

Canley Heights, NSW

What’s in a pho challenge? I’m glad you asked: 500g of meat, 500g of noodles, 1.5 litres of broth. Can someone pls ship it to the Gold Coast??

Someone called Fishnets ‘the worst fish & chips’ in Wollongong and I don’t think that’s very nice. Or true. (Actually, I wouldn’t know, ‘cause I’ve never been there!). But they used to do that ridiculous Mammoth Burger that was the stuff of nightmares, so there’s that…

Top G Burger Challenge | District North Kitchen

Darwin, NT

District North Kitchen’s burger challenge has just a 30-minute time limit to finish a 2kg burger layered with 3 smash burger patties, cheese, fried chicken, schnitzel patties, brisket, pork belly, onion rings, pineapple, and beetroot. YIKES!!

The burger is served on a bed of fries (which apparently are not required to win).

Winners do not earn their $99 AUD meal for free…but they do get a t-shirt and a spot up on the "Naughty Corner" Wall of Fame!

Giant Laksa Bowl Challenge | Lisa’s Lunch Bar

Darwin, NT

Finally, something a lil different: a giant laksa challenge!

At Lisa’s Lunch Bar, diners only have 35 minutes (or 45? there are conflicting details) to finish a bowl loaded with 800g of egg noodles and vermicelli, 600g of beef, pork, chicken, and tofu, and filled with 3 Liters of Malaysian-style Laksa broth.

Anyway, Rick’s Garage serves up a 1.1kg burger that is just absolutely stacked with stuff, sooooo ummm, if you’re feeling up for it…

5.5kg Burger Challenge | Nindigully Pub

Nindigully, QLD

The Daily Mail wrote an article about Nindigully Pub’s burger/monstrosity, so I’m gonna quote them directly:

“The epic $80 pub meal features a huge 1.2kg meat patty, a 1kg bun, six tomatoes, one entire iceberg lettuce, three large beetroots, one tin of pineapple slices, 400g of cheese and barbecue sauce, surrounded by 1kg of potato wedges.”

I don’t know if they still do this one, but Hashtag Burgers & Waffles had a scary burger challenge that looked like this & mom, pls come pick me up, I’m scared:

Mighty Moo BBQ Challenge | Smokey Moo

Brisbane, QLD

Before you try to take this challenge, I’d like to remind you that Smokey Moo’s platter is designed to feed EIGHT people.

The platter features pastrami, brisket, ribs, beef cheeks, garlic bread, fries, cobb salad, and coleslaw. Solo challengers have just one hour to finish everything on their own to win a t-shirt, the $375 meal for free, and a spot up on the Wall of Fame.

They’re probably still doing this, but Pancake Manor in Brisbane hosts eating competitions and Brisbanites just loooove talking about this place.

If you're on the Gold Coast and you’re hankering for a burger, Longboards has a 1.8-kilogram burger challenge that might land you in the emergency room, buuut I won’t judge, honestly.

1kg Caramilk Cookie | Paddock Bakery

Burleigh Heads, QLD

Bet you didn't know that Paddock does a 1kg Caramilk cookie?? Well, now you do. This thing is suuuuper tasty - it’s covered in dollops of dulce de leche and sprinkled with Caramilk crumbles, but it is fiendish on the stomach. It’s not an official challenge but like, if you want to set yourself some life goals, go for it.

This cookie could feed an entire family.

Breakfast-Style XXXL Burger Challenge | CHOOFAS Smokehouse & Seafood

Coolangatta, QLD

Huh. I’ve never been to Choofas, even though it’s in my neck of the woods. PERHAPS THIS IS THE REASON WHY:

Are you ready to C.R.E.A.M your pants? (That was gross, I apologise!)

The "Stack Attack" at C.R.E.A.M in Adelaide is not just a breakfast, it's an Everest of eats!

Imagine tackling a 1kg stack of hotcakes, a forest of 20 maple bacon slices, and a half-kilo of chicken tenders, all swimming in an OCEAN of syrup with a drink that's not for the faint-hearted.

You've got 30 minutes to demolish this whole monstrosity. If you do manage to conquer it, you get the meal for free, a t-shirt, and your name in breakfast history on the C.R.E.A.M Wall of Fame.

Ever wanted to eat a sandwich that's probably visible from space?

Well the Seacliff Beach Hotel in Seacliff, South Australia, has you covered with their "Giant Deli Sandwich" Challenge.

This 2ft long French baguette is like a deli dream, stuffed with an army of meats, a garden of salad, and a river of chipotle mayo. Oh and of course, don't forget the mountain of chips.

Giant Parma Challenge | Apparently Everywhere???

Reading people’s comments about Adelaide, you’d think there was a massive parma challenge at every pub, and apparently, that is true (can someone confirm??)

Anyway apparently La Romana does a massive, massive parma and I’m not even going to try to imagine what my stomach would feel like after it.

I’m kinda sad this wasn’t around when I lived in Carlton.

Drp Bar gives you 45 minutes to finish the equivalent of FIFTEEN (!!!!) orders of Drp Bar's specialty crepes. These babies are loaded with Nutella, Biscoff Sauce, Biscoff Cookies, strawberries, and bananas.

"Its A King Hulk" Burger Challenge | ItsABurger

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO! It’s ItsABurger’s King Hulk Challenge!

Apparently ItsABurger only give you a measly 30 minutes to finish four of their King Hulk Burgers.

Each King Hulk consists of 4 cheeseburgers, for a total of 16 cheeseburger patties! And possibly heartburn FOREVER. And that’s not all!!

Perth, WA

Apparently, 1 burger patty is not enough for Perthies, oh no no no. Skeddadle over to Varsity Innaloo to take on their 20x20 Burger Stack Challenge. Brave (and mildly unhinged?) eaters have ONE HOUR to finish a burger piled high with TWENTY all-beef patties, cheese, and sauce.

The aptly named Get Chunky has a 15,000 Calorie Milk & Cookies Challenge that will probably most likely make you get chunky AF, not gonna lie.

People hankering for diabetes have ONE HOUR to finish 14 of Get Chunky’s massive house-baked cookies, 3 of which are paired with syringes full of sweet sauces, a big cup of raw edible cookie dough, a Biscoff latte, 3 scoops of gelato, and a bottle of milk.

Mega Conti Roll Challenge | Foodie’s Boutique

Alkimos, WA

I had to look up where Alkimos is for this next challenge and Perth did not disappoint—it’s in the middle of fucking nowhere!

I also need to inform you on what a Conti Roll is, because if you’re not a weirdo—uh, I mean, a Perthie—then you won’t know what it is. Spoiler alert: it’s just a sandwich.

Anyway, back to the challenge! Foodie’s Boutique’s supersized Conti roll is filled with 4 kinds of meats, loads of cheese, special Italian salad, and artichoke hearts (???). You lost me at artichoke hearts!

Eaters have just 45 minutes to finish the roll in order to earn their $75 AUD sandwich for free, a t-shirt, and a $300 AUD cash prize if they can beat the previous record!
