A Weekend In Eurobodalla (South Coast)

In case I don’t mention it enough: my partner is a doctor. It’s very humbling to answer the question “So what do you do?” in his presence, ‘cause I get to go “I make silly little TikToks huehuehue” and he’s like “I save lives”. Massive d’ohhh.

Anyway, there’s a point to this statement, I promise: because my partner is a doctor, he sometimes does locum work AKA he works in the middle of nowhere, where there aren’t as many doctors. And SOMETIMES, I get to join him.

This is how I ended up in Eurobodalla sometime in March 2023.

Moruya

Moruya is cuuuute. It’s also very small—but I love small town livin’!

There’s a fantastic little coffee shop called Grounded that’s super busy in the mornings—they have a very rustic outdoor area that I vibed with.

Look how cuuuuute!

There’s also the Waterfront Hotel right by the river (the food is meh but the atmosphere is homey!), and also a very adorable Saturday market along the waterfront as well where they have CINNAMON DONUTS AND BREAKFAST PIZZA. Need I say more??

Hot cinnamon donuts 10/10

I got there really early on Saturday when the mist was rising off the river and everything was still dewy and the sun was slowly coming in and it was just…*chefs kiss*.

The coffee was tasty and the hot cinnamon donuts at the Saturday market were 10/10—the guy just plops a piping hot bag of 5 donuts right in your hand, it’s kind of magical. I almost cried—donuts have that effect on me.

Donut worry, I ate them all.

There’s also a very famous breakfast pizza stall (which honestly looks like regular pizza to me, but thou shalt not split hairs in small towns) but I did not partake—however, everyone around me who was eating it had nothing but great things to say about it so I defer to them.

I was also pretty impressed that the Moruya Woolys was open until 9pm on a Sunday, say whaaat! My Coles isn’t even open that late on Sundays.

Overall it was pretty good—I give it a 7/10!

Bingie

Bingie beaches are quiet and expansive (and somewhat windy!)—they have that NSW feel to them AKA the sand is quite yellow and the water is Extremely Salty.™ I know that sounds stupid, but I honestly don’t find Gold Coast beaches as salty as Central Coast or Northern NSW Beaches. But maybe I’m just a weak lil Canadian who knows nothing about saltwater. (I’m kinda too embarrassed to Google “are beaches saltier in NSW?”). Anywhoooo.

Then there are the Grey Rocks, which we explored with my friend who is a geologist so I learned aaaaa lot about rocks. (This 100% reads like a 5-year-old’s journal right now.)

Did you know that a sheet of rock that’s formed in a fracture of a pre-existing rock is called a dyke? My lesbian geologist friend had a lot of fun pointing that out.

Also unrelated but the kangaroo sightings in Bingie were 10/10.

Mogo

We only stopped in Mogo for the MogoBrewCrew, which is the cutest little coffee cart I’ve ever seen. A very friendly Kelpie was in line with us for coffee (well, like, its owner was…) and it got a lot of pats.

Also they have egg pies?? Which were DELICIOUS?? I had the feta and spinach one ‘cause I’m a dirty vegetarian and where have these been all my life?? 10/10!!!

Batemans Bay

We didn’t have time to stop in Batemans Bay, but we got pulled over and ticketed, so that was a crisp -10/10. The view of the bay looked nice though.

Fin!
